Seeing Green

We've all heard lots of talk about ways to go green.

We're proud to say the Kent and Bacich Green Teams are talking the talk and walking the walk! The Green Teams consist of students, teachers and parents, all working together to improve our District's environmental impact, both at school and at home.

Here's a small sampling:

At Kent Middle School

  • Assembly: "Who Wants to Save a Polar Bear?" from Cancel-a-Car, provided an educational and highly-interactive "game show" in which student teams worked together to answer global warming questions.
  • Ice Caps: The Kent Ice Caps (Kent’s name for their Green Team) is convening weekly at lunchtime to work on promoting carbon reduction.

At Bacich Elementary School

  • Assembly: Bacich teachers performed in the new Cancel-a-Car assembly in which the infamous villain, Mr. Carbon, introduces his "big" brother, Mr. Methane. The assembly reinforced energy-saving ideas and introduced kids to one of the leading causes of methane: landfill.
  • No Waste Lunch: The Green Team launched the second phase of their "No Waste Lunch" initiative. This new phase involves kids teaching kids how to properly sort waste from recycling and encouraging kids to take home edible food.

Carbon Reduction Initiatives

  • Cancel-a-Car Coupon booklets distributed to every Kentfield School District family, with tips for reducing your carbon footprint at home.

Monthly Initiatives

  • Light Bar Display for CFL education
  • Reusable Water Bottles!
  • Junk Mail
  • No Waste Lunch
  • Pollution Punchcard
  • Water Wise
