Online Registration

Dear Kent Parents:

This year we are unveiling an online registration system for all students who will be attending Kentfield School District schools in August 2007. The online system has been developed to make it easier for parents to give the District the most accurate and complete information. The system will also let parents quickly review and correct the information that the District holds about their students.

It is very important that we have up-to-date information for every student who will be attending, as well as information about current students who will not be returning to a District school next fall. All the information you provide in the registration system is kept confidential to your family and to the school office.

There are two parts to the registration process. In the first part, you will indicate whether your student will be attending Kent next year, or is leaving the District. The system will also ask you to select preferences for music and/or enrichment programs for students who will be in 5th through 8th grade next year. 5th and 6th grade students need to select either Band or Chorus for their required music class; 7th and 8th grade students can choose to take one or both of the optional "0" period Concert Band and Concert Choir classes that begin before school each day at 7:45 AM. And 8th graders can register their preferences for the enrichment program. While every 8th grader will take enrichment classes in Technology and Writing, they may select three preferences for other enrichment classes from Art, Drama, Shop, or Video. The school will try to fulfill at least one of these preferred courses. More information about these choices can be found on the KSD website.

The second part of the registration system covers contact, medical and demographic information about you and your students. You will be asked to provide:

• Parent contact information (address, phone and email addresses)
• Demographic information required by the State of California
• Home language information for non-English speaking students
• Emergency contact information for use by school and County emergency personnel
• Medical information to help us give your child proper medical treatment in case of a health issue

If you are filling out information for a returning student, the forms will be pre-filled with data from last year's registration, so you only have to review the information and make changes.

We hope that you will find the online system easy to use. If you don't have access to a computer or the Internet at home, you can come to the school office between 8 AM and 4 PM on school days and use a computer there. It is very important that we get all parents of existing Kent students to complete the registration process for their students no later than Wednesday, May 16, so that we have adequate time to plan for next year's classes before the summer starts. The school will be calling you to help you complete the forms if you haven't completed them on time.
