Volunteer Registration
To ensure the safety of our students and adhere to California law, the district requires volunteers to meet certain requirements prior to volunteering. The requirements to volunteer vary depending on the volunteer position. Please see the volunteer categories and requirements below. Please note:
- Volunteers that have completed the Volunteer Registration Form for a current year do no need to complete it again for multiple positions.
- Live Scan Fingerprinting is only required once, and will apply for future school years.
FIELD TRIP DRIVER
Requirements:
- Complete Volunteer Registration Form
- Complete Live Scan Fingerprinting (see below)
- Send the following documents to your site's administrative assistant:
- Driver Form
- Driving Record -- Request online from DMV ($2 fee); and,
- Insurance Declaration that includes liability limits and expiration date
SCREENED VOLUNTEER
Includes:
- Overnight Chaperones (non-drivers)
- Any Unsupervised Volunteer
Requirements:
- Complete Volunteer Registration Form
- Complete Live Scan Fingerprinting (see below)
TRAINED VOLUNTEER
Includes:
- Classroom Volunteer
- Food Service Volunteer
- Walking Field Trip Chaperone
- Drop off/Pick up Volunteer
Requirements:
- Receive training on-site for the particular position
SCHOOL VISITOR
Includes:
- School Visitor (school events, parties, performances)
No requirements to participate.
HOW TO COMPLETE THE LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENT
Volunteers can visit a Live Scan service site to be fingerprinted at any time, or attend a scheduled Fingerprinting Day on the KSD campus, when Live Scan services are provided on a walk-in basis at the school sites.
To complete on your own:
- Take this form to an authorized Live Scan center (click for list of centers).
- Results will automatically be sent to the district office.
