Bacich Bears News

Andrea Cashman

Dear Bacich Community,

For this session of classroom guidance lessons, the Bacich students have been learning about identifying the size of a problem – small, medium and big. Please ask your Bacich Bear to show you the hand signals. The students have been taught that they can solve small problems on their own without any help from a grownup. And that feels really good to solve a problem by yourself!

The kids know to try one or two of Kelso’s Choices to solve these small problems. For example, if they are having a problem deciding on which game to play during recess, they can use “Rock, Paper, Scissors” to solve the problem. Try using some of the choices at home! You can watch Kelso’s video for deeper understanding and some good dance music that many of us will recognize.

Finally, our amazing 4th grade Bacich Peacemaker Team (BPT) members have been reinforcing Kelso’s Choices during lunch recess with Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders. The Peacemakers also look for excellent citizenship and award Bacich Bear Cards to deserving students. These leaders and role models assist with using our Peace Paths as well.

Bacich Walk and Roll to School Days: April 13, 20, 27 and "May the 4th"

Walk and Roll Jedi Challenge

Bacich is holding a four-week Walk and Roll to school event that started April 13. Students are working to be full J.E.D.I.s (Joyful, Excited, Devoted, Imaginative) as they celebrate saving the earth by walking or rolling to school. When students walk or roll to school the event days there will be a table at the Sir Francis Drake gate with volunteers passing out their J.E.D.I. cards. They will need to get their card stamped four times. If they have four stamps on their J.E.D.I. card, they can turn it in to enter a raffle for a soccer ball or a scooter! Parents, if you would like to volunteer from 7:45-8:15 a.m. on any of the next four Wednesdays to help out with stamping, please email Kristine Duran at kduran@kentfieldschools.org.

If purchasing a yearbook is a financial burden for your family, please reach out to either Amber Hatfield (ahatfield@kentfieldschools.org) or Ivette Villarreal (ivillarreal@kentfieldschools.org), and the KSPTA will make sure your child has a book.
