KSD Highlights

Dear KSD Community,

Word is spreading all over our campuses about our second annual Kentfield School PTA Readathon fundraiser. Last week we launched the event at Bacich with staff walking the Reading Rainbow catwalk dressed as their favorite book characters. From Miss. Frizzle to Amelia Bedelia, check out this crew of popular book characters who visited our Bacich Bears at last week’s assembly.

Bacich Book Characters Catwalk

This week Kent Middle School launched their first-ever Book Fair in the newly refreshed Kent Library where kids can visit before school, during recess and lunch, or Wednesday after school to purchase books and school supplies in preparation for the Kent Readathon. The newly refreshed Kent Library project, funded by KIK, finished just in time to help support this event. Special thanks to KSD parents Laura Harrison, Ryan Barr, and Sean Canon for their expertise and support in this endeavor and to our Kent staff for their meticulous eye and vision in making this project a success.

By continuing to support our community partnerships and raising reading awareness through the KSPTA Readathon we are sure to further ignite the love of reading within our children.

Happy Reading KSD.

Walk & Roll to School Day: J.E.D.I Challenge Begins!

Wednesday, March 15, April 1, 5, and 19, and May 3

*If the storm warning interferes with Walk & Roll to School Day, activities will be postponed until Wednesday, March 21.

The J.E.D.I Challenge is a four-week contest to help reinforce the habit of walking and rolling to school. Upon arrival at school, Parent Volunteers stamp participating students’ cards. At the end of the four-week challenge, students enter their stamped cards into a raffle for a chance to win prizes.

Participating students can raffle two raffle prizes – a bike from Cleary Bikes and a helmet courtesy of Mike’s Bikes.

KSD Storm Watch

The National Weather Service forecasts substantial rainfall and high winds over the next 24 hours, with sunshine predicted for Wednesday, March 15. A Flood Watch and High Wind warning are in effect from March 13, 10 p.m. until March 15, 5 a.m.

KSD schools are scheduled to be open and in session for students and staff through this storm and will continue to monitor how this storm is impacting our schools and daily operations. In the unlikely event that we must close school prior to the start of the school day, we will send a communication via ParentsSquare and post an update on our District homepage no later than 6:30 a.m. If there are circumstances during the school day where we need to close school while in session a parent notification will be provided, and adjustments will be made to safely release students to their parent/guardian.

Thank you for your support as we all navigate this challenging weather storm.

When to Stay Home

California Department of Public Health encourages all students and staff to test for COVID-19 IF they feel sick; AFTER exposure, travel, or large gatherings; and BEFORE events or visiting high-risk people.

Please know that our school offices have COVID tests available if needed. Thank you for your support.

Please reference this exposure notice for information on symptoms, communicability, and prevention. (English I Spanish).

Please keep your child home if they are sick. It's not too late to get your flu vaccine. Please contact our school nurse Laurel Yrun (lyrun@kentfieldschools.org) with any questions you may have about how to navigate illness and school this year.

Important Medi-Cal Information

State Launches Campaign to Help Californians Keep Medi-Cal Coverage

Starting in April, California will have 14 months to resume normal renewal processes for all Medi-Cal enrollees. The Department of Health Care Services has launched a statewide campaign with a new landing page, www.dhcs.ca.gov/pages/keep-your-medi-cal.aspx.

Enrollees who have moved or changed their phone number or email since 2020 need to update their contact information with Medi-Cal so they don’t miss alerts or notices about their renewal. Medi-Cal beneficiaries should update their information today by contacting Marin HHS Public Assistance at: 1-877-410-8817 or visit www.benefitscal.com.
