Dear Kent Middle School Families,

Second Trimester Report Cards - Report Cards for the second trimester will be available for students and families this Friday, March 31 at 4 p.m. in the Aeries Family Portal. On these report cards, teachers have reflected the progress each student has made with essential learning targets in each of their classes, indicating whether students are beginning, approaching, meeting, or exceeding grade level expectations with each essential skill. We intend for this feedback to encapsulate the learning achieved by your child thus far in the school year, while also highlighting areas where increased focus and attention are needed. Please expect a Parent Square notification on Friday afternoon with more information about accessing and interpreting second trimester report cards.

Homework Survey - This year our Kent School Site Council formed a sub committee to analyze homework practices at our school with an interest to inform a proposed update to our school homework policy. The homework sub committee would like to learn from our parents/guardians with regard to your child's experience with homework. If you are interested in providing this feedback, please complete the following linked survey, which should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

Open House at Kent - Are you interested to tour our Kent classrooms and experience some of the learning activities within? Please join us for our annual Open House event this Thursday, March 30th from 6 to 7:30 pm! The objective of Open House is for families to experience ‘a day in the life’ of a Kent student, and student work and assignments on display in classrooms will reflect the typical learning experiences presented across our school daily. Your Kent student will be your tour guide, leading you through their schedule and showing you activities inside each classroom. We ask that you set the expectation that your children stay with you for the duration of the Open House event, as we do not have adequate supervision for unstructured play outside, which can also present noise distractions in classrooms. For those interested to attend, we will be hosting a special ribbon cutting event for our refreshed Kent Library space starting at 5:50 pm on the steps leading to the Kent Library. Come a little early to learn more about this project and to experience the layout of our new Library firsthand!

One final reminder that we’ve adjusted our schedule this week due to the Open House event. Wednesday, March 29th is a full day of school with a 3:28 pm dismissal, while Friday, March 31st will be our early release day this week, with a 1:13 pm dismissal. We’re looking forward to a full week of learning and celebration at Kent!

Open House at Kent - Please mark your calendars for the Kent Middle School Open House event next Thursday, March 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in our Kent classrooms. Open House at Kent is a tour of our school for our families, provided by your Kent student. The objective of Open House is for families to experience "a day in the life" of a Kent student, and student work and assignments on display in classrooms will reflect the typical learning experiences presented across our school daily. Your child will be your tour guide, charged with taking you on a self-paced tour of their school day and sharing essential learnings and typical activities from each of their classes. We ask that you set the expectation that your children stay with you for the duration of the Open House event, as we do not have adequate supervision for unstructured play outside, which can also present noise distractions in classrooms. We are excited to welcome students and parents on campus to experience the purposeful learning experiences that our students engage in daily!

The Lion King Rehearsals & Performance Tickets

The Lion King Performances - Our student actors and crew are hard at work preparing our spring musical The Lion King, and are looking forward to four performances of the show the week of April 3! Kent students will enjoy two school-day performances of the show on Thursday, April 6. There will be two evening performances available for students and families in our community to attend. Each event is free, however, due to limited capacity in the Kent MP Room we are requesting that families use the Eventbrite links below to reserve seats for the musical. It is certain to be a phenomenal show!

Kent Basketball Reminder

Attention all parents of Kent basketball players: Please wash and return all Kent basketball jerseys. Thank you to the many that already have. Jerseys are needed to outfit our future Falcon hoopers!
