Dear Kentfield School Community,

On Tuesday, September 15, 2020 Marin County Public Health announced that our country had officially moved from Tier I – Purple/Widespread to the Tier II – Red/Substantial per the California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. This is an exciting move for our county as it is evidence that we are doing what it takes to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This shift also allows for more sectors in our county to re-open with modifications, which includes schools.

As previously communicated, when permissible, the Kentfield School District would begin the transition from full distance learning to a hybrid model of instruction gradually and methodically. In anticipation of this shift our staff have begun working collaboratively to plan a pilot for some in-person instruction at the end of this month. This opportunity would provide us all the time and grace to implement our safety protocols with students and staff while implementing new instructional strategies that would support the safety and well-being of our community while maintaining a high quality program.

We are all eager to get our students on campus to support their academic and social emotional well-being, but we want to be very thoughtful and intentional about our return. It is essential that our campus and our school community are fully ready so we can provide optimal services while reducing the spread of the virus. We plan to use a phased approach in our transition with a timeline and in-person pilot information to be released shortly as we recognize parents/guardians need time to plan.

On Thursday, September 24 from 4-5:00 p.m. myself and our site principals will host a webinar to share more about our hybrid design and the transition plan. We hope you will join us for this informational meeting – but if you cannot attend, a recording will be posted following the event. Together families and staff have focused on achieving what is best for our school community and I thank you for your ongoing patience and participation in this process. The safe, methodical approach we are taking allows us to move forward with positive outcomes and fewer setbacks. We look forward to your engagement as we enter this next phase of our plan.
