Addressing the Board
How to Contact the Kentfield School Board with a Question or Concern
Addressing the Board of Trustees during a School Board Meeting
The Kentfield School Board encourages your participation in its deliberations and has tried to make it convenient for you to express your views. If you wish to address the Board on an agenda item, please raise your hand during discussion of that item and provide your feedback when called upon by the President. Any additional materials (e.g. copies of your remarks, charts or graphs, copies of articles, or reports) you present will be copied and presented to all Board members after the meeting.
If you want to present a letter for inclusion in the Board packet that is distributed to Board Members 72 hours prior to a meeting, it must be received by the District Office one week before a Board meeting. Please indicate that you would like it included in the packet.
If you wish to address the Board on an item not on the agenda, you may speak during Public Comment, which generally occurs at the beginning of every board meeting. Board members are legally prohibited from discussing non-agenda items and, therefore, cannot respond to items presented during Public Comment. Any additional material you present during Public Comment will be copied and presented to all Board members after the meeting.
Board agendas are very full and time is limited. For that reason, we request that you speak only once on an item and that you limit your remarks either when addressing an agenda item or when speaking in Public Comment to a maximum of three minutes. If numerous individuals request to speak on a particular item or in the Public Comment, the Board President may limit the total time allocated to each speaker to ensure that all wishing to speak will be heard.
How to Request an Item be placed on a KSD Board Meeting Agenda
A community member may request to place an item on the Board Agenda by submitting a written request and supporting information to the Kentfield District Office (750 College Ave, Kentfield CA 94904 or email to admin@kentfieldschools.org). The Superintendent, in consultation with the Board President and Clerk, will determine which upcoming regular Board meeting the item will be scheduled to discuss as a potential future agenda item. The person who requested the item will be allowed three minutes to present the information to the Board during the Future Agenda Items section of the meeting. Following this presentation, the Board may put the issue on a future agenda for more discussion and action, refer the issue to the administration for follow-up, or take no action.
