Addressing the Board

Public Comment at Board Meetings

The Kentfield School Board encourages your participation in its deliberations and has tried to make it convenient for you to express your views. You can either provide comment in-person at the Board meeting, or provide a written comment to the Board prior to the meeting. Public comment is not available over Zoom.

Commenting at Board Meetings

To comment on an item on the agenda, please raise your hand during discussion of that item, and provide your feedback when called upon by the President. Any additional materials you present will be copied and presented to all Board members after the meeting.

To comment on an item not on the agenda, you may speak during Public Comment, which generally occurs at the beginning of every board meeting. Board members are legally prohibited from discussing non-agenda items and, therefore, cannot respond to items presented during Public Comment. Any additional material you present during Public Comment will be copied and presented to all Board members after the meeting.

Board agendas are very full and time is limited. Please speak only once on an item, and limit your remarks to a maximum of three minutes. If numerous individuals request to speak on a particular item, the Board President may limit the total time allocated to each speaker to ensure that all wishing to speak will be heard.

Providing Public Comment in Writing

To comment on any item, on or off the agenda, provide a letter to the Board at least one week before a Board meeting that indicates that it should be included in the Board packet. Board packets are distributed to Board members 72 hours before each meeting.

Letters should be sent to the Kentfield District Office, either by mail to 750 College Ave, Kentfield CA 94904, or by email to admin@kentfieldschools.org.

Requesting an Agenda Item

A community member may request to place an item on the Board Agenda by submitting a written request and supporting information to the Kentfield District Office (750 College Ave, Kentfield CA 94904 or email to admin@kentfieldschools.org). The Superintendent, in consultation with the Board President and Clerk, will determine which upcoming regular Board meeting the item will be scheduled to discuss as a potential future agenda item. The person who requested the item will be allowed three minutes to present the information to the Board during the Future Agenda Items section of the meeting. Following this presentation, the Board may put the issue on a future agenda for more discussion and action, refer the issue to the administration for follow-up, or take no action.
