Important Announcement

UPDATE - Bacich School Administration

We are thrilled to share our plans for the administrative structure for Bacich School in the 2022-23 school year.

The KSD conducted a full recruitment and interview process for a full-time principal and assistant principal. Through the multifaceted interview process the panel identified one final candidate for hire, Maria Martin. Ms. Martin is recommended to be identified as the Principal-Elect finalist for Bacich School effective July 1, 2022.

Ms. Martin is in process of obtaining her administrative credential, thus the title of “Principal-Elect.” The KSD will also contract an additional experienced interim elementary school administrator for the site to provide operational support for Bacich School while also working closely with Ms. Martin in her new role. Ms. Martin and I are working together to find this additional interim administrator and will update the community once the additional team member has been identified.

As we look forward to the 2022-23 school year, our primary goal is to support our Bacich students and staff with a strong administrative team. Through creating this unique infrastructure we will have the necessary level of support for our students and staff while also providing our community familiarity, trust, and cohesion.

On May 25 we will hold an afternoon social for parents/guardians in the Bacich School Miwok Garden to provide an informal meet and greet with our new administrative team (more details to follow). Please see below message from Ms. Martin to learn a bit more about the gifts she will bring to Bacich as the Principal-Elect.

A Message from Maria Martin, Principal- Elect

I am thrilled and honored to have been chosen as the new Principal-Elect of Bacich Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year. Kentfield is my home and I am grateful for the opportunity to join the administrative team at Bacich, right here in my own community. My daughter, Isabel, is a current sixth grader at Kent Middle School and my older children are former KSD students. You will likely see me in the evenings walking my dog, Cooper, in the neighborhood. I also enjoy camping and spending time outdoors with my family.

I am a dedicated and dynamic educator with 15 years of teaching experience at Bacich and I am currently in the process of obtaining my administrative credential. During my time at Bacich, I have taught kindergarten and fourth grade and held numerous leadership positions, including Grade Level Coordinator in both kindergarten and fourth grade. I have been a mentor to several beginning teachers and aspiring teachers during my years at Bacich. Prior to teaching at Bacich, I served on the board of Brandeis Hillel Day School and held leadership positions at my children’s preschool. I come from a family of educators and believe in the power of a quality education.

I am passionate about culturally responsive teaching and creating safe and engaging learning environments where all students can thrive and learn. I look forward to deepening and expanding our social justice and equity and inclusion work that has begun at Bacich and the Kentfield School District.

In addition to being an educator, I have nearly 15 years combined experience as an attorney and small business owner. I bring a unique set of experiences and perspectives to my new role as Bacich Principal-Elect. I have strong collaboration and communication skills and I am eager to work with all stakeholders to achieve a shared vision for our school.

It is truly a gift to get to work as Principal-Elect alongside such a dedicated, caring, and hard working staff. I look forward to working with teachers, parents, and the larger school community to ensure that all students reach their potential in a caring and inclusive school environment that keeps the best interest of students at the forefront. Together, as partners, we can ensure a bright future for our school where joy, kindness, and a love of learning thrive.

Sincerely,

Maria Martin
Bacich School Principal-Elect
